WP7: Pilots

Description

The present work package involves the testing of the methodology and the technological framework that supports it in order to ensure that the system meets the planned objectives. Once the different components of the system (ILC, Portfolio Component, Competence Catalogue, and Institutional Environment) have been created and integrated into a first prototype version the validation will begin.

The validation will be performed through the implementation of a set of pilots. The methodology followed during these pilots will consist of: 1) Designing the pilot, that is to say, what will be measured, with which goals and how this will be done, what kind of users will be involved in the pilot, how many people and other logistical details; 2) Preparation of the pilot, that is to say, user training in the use of the tools, defining the validation tools for example, surveys, interviews with the users to check the effectively of the pilot. 3) The pilot itself. 4) Implementation of the validation tools, and 5) creation of the results report which will identify possible improvements to the approach.

Specifically in this work package two pilot cycles will be carried out at USAL, UPC, OUNL, IPP and DSD with target groups from university and work contexts depending on the institution. Pilot 1 will be centred on the learner perspective. Pilot 2 will consider the institutional perspective. Pilots will be performed by groups of 10 to 20 persons. The preparation of each pilot will last one month, as will the pilot itself and the process of or results analysis and conclusions, making a total duration of three months. The second pilot will begin a month after the first has finished to allow time for adaptations to the system.

The pilots will be performed from M13 to M18 and the results recovered by them could be use to introduce changes in new software releases of the system.

Deliverable 18. Pilot Action 1 Report

This deliverable will be produced at the end of the first pilot action, that is to say the one that focuses on how learners could make visible the competences acquired through informal activities. It will be produced as a summary of the pilot process and outcomes. In this report there will be an explanation about how the methodology is going to be applied, a summary of the design of the experiment (with information about its main goals, the duration, the users who will perform the experiment, the tools that are going to measure outcomes), the results of the experiments and conclusions. The information recovered by this deliverable will be used for the implementation of a new release of the project in WP6.

Deliverable 19. Pilot Action 2 Report

This deliverable will be produced at the end of the second pilot action. This report will include a summary of the design of the experiment (with information about its main goals, the duration, the users who will to perform the experiment, the tools that are going to be used to measure outcomes), the results of the experiments and some conclusions. The information recovered by this deliverable will be used for the implementation of a new release of the project in WP6.
